Jesus Psalter Prayer Card

The Jesus Psalter is a beautiful prayer series that was popular among the English recusants, the faithful persecuted Catholics of England when Catholicism was outlawed and punishable by death in the 16th century. It is a prayer cycle like the Rosary, called a Psalter because the 150 repetitions of the name of Jesus reflect the 150 Psalms.

There is no single standard version of the Jesus Psalter. Often, authors include recommended meditations for each series of small beads (similar to the mysteries of the Rosary). The version included here is adapted from the prayer books of the English recusants and only includes the core prayers with no additional meditations.

The Jesus Psalter is similar to a Rosary in structure. There are three sets of prayers, similar to the different Mysteries of the Rosary, and you can pray the Jesus Psalter all the way through or just pray one set of prayers at a time.

The structure is 1-10-4, 10-4, 10-4, 10-4, 10-6 which can be prayed on a Pocket Paternoster using the top side and the Crucifix side without the inset Cruxifix.

Pocket Prayer Cards are made of coated aluminum and are about the size of a credit card, designed to fit into your wallet with your other cards so that they're in your pocket when you need them.
